As part of the motivation programme "Learn and Earn" ("Mācies un pelni"), students have shown significant social responsibility by donating 20'000 motivation points, which were converted into a donation of 200 euros to the Ulubele animal shelter. This donation will be used to improve the living conditions of abandoned and ownerless animals.
Ulubele currently cares for 500 animals – 200 dogs and 300 cats. The students’ initiative provides substantial support for the shelter’s daily needs, as the cost of caring for one animal for one day is 2 euros. The donated money will be spent on animal food, puppy pads, household supplies and other necessary care items.
School principal Gita Vāvere comments with pride: "The students’ active participation and great interest in supporting animals is clear proof that our young people are the very best and the most kind-hearted. I am truly proud and honoured that they have chosen to study with us and that they have such a strong interest in contributing to the well-being of society as a whole."
What is the motivation programme "Learn and Earn"?
The school’s motivation programme “Learn and Earn” was created to boost distance learners’ motivation to achieve their learning goals and to activate the conditions for good practice in responsible and active learning in distance education. Within the motivation programme, students and teachers receive motivation points for learning and teaching, which can be exchanged for souvenirs and various items, such as cinema tickets, mugs with the school logo and even a laptop. The motivation programme “Learn and Earn” has been running successfully for several years.
We encourage students to study actively, collect motivation points and continue to support the Ulubele animal shelter, because regular donations are a lifeline for our four-legged friends.
